Our Story

Wright Design Architectural Practice was founded in 1991 by Derek Wright, who has over 40 years of experience.

The success of Wright Design has grown on a strong emphasis on practical design awareness, which has allowed the practice to produce high-quality domestic and commercially viable buildings.

Wright Design has an established track record of commercial, industrial and residential projects within Yorkshire. Each of these have been completed successfully for local and national developers.

The design team has also established a reputation for its work on: conservation projects, works on Listed Buildings, and conversion and refurbishment works in the City of Hull and York.

Wright Design has been providing drawings for many architectural building projects and providing architectural services across the area of Kingston Upon Hull, York, Grimsby, Lincoln, and the East Riding of Yorkshire for the last 30 years.

We offer a wide range of architectural services for commercial and domestic: new Builds, Extensions, Loft Conversions etc. based on a talent for design and in-depth knowledge of planning policy and building regulations.

Holly Gate House

Modern five bedroom detached home, provides clean lines and materials that complement each other. This large presence provides more than enough usable space for the clients ever growing family.

Glazing
Patio Doors, Glazed Doors (including side panels and all low level glazing below 800mm) to be Class 'B' Safety Glass.
Pitch roof
Interlocking concrete tiles or clay pantiles on 38 x 25mm battens on breathable roofing felt fixed to Attic roof trusses @ 45 deg.
Walls
102mm brickwork with 100mm cavity filled with 100mm Dritherm insulation between 100mm lightweight blockwork.
Electrical
All electrical installations to be designed, installed, inspected and tested in accordance with Chapter 13 of BS7671:2001.

Rear dormer and single storey extension

Well proportioned rear dormer and single storey extension, featuring large open plan living space with views out into the garden via the large bi-fold windows. In keeping with the street scene - despite the limited site area.

Structure
All structural timbers to be G.S. stress graded to B.S. 4978 and roof trusses to be pressure impregnated with a preservative.

Three bedroom traditional terraces

Traditional terraces, utilising every inch of available land for the developer. The geometry in elevation meant no issue with the local planning authority. The three bedroom homes were perfect for new families.

Westwood Care Group

The rear two storey extension and change of use brought new life back to this existing 1960s dwelling, providing comfortable dynamic spaces for its occupants.

Provide level approach from site access to main entrance to dwelling formed with ramp @ 1 in 20 max and 900mm min width.

All windows and doors to have a window energy rating (WER) of band C or better.
Smoke/Heat alarms
Smoke/Heat alarms to be interconnected on mains supply and to be installed in accordance with B.S. 5839
Heating system
ressurised wet system with programmer, Low Surface Temperature Radiators,thermostatic valves room stat and condensing gas boiler with boiler interlock and balanced flue.

Outbuilding

Sleek and bijou outbuilding, providing a useful office space to the homeowner - complementing the landscape and orientated to suit the natural light in the garden.

Ruberoid Roofing System on 19mm Ex. Quality Plywood on 100mm Kingspan insulation on vapour barrier on 19mm external quality plywood
Rainwater goods
100mm HR P.V.C. gutter to discharge via 75mm dia. R.W.P. into Warer Butt
Floor
18mm Chipboard 1200g visqueen DPM linked to wall DPM on 25mm Kingspan Floor Slab on 150mm reinforced concrete
Wall detail
100 x 19mm Cedar or Thermawood Cladding with secret nailing. 12.5mm Acoustic Plasterboard with 3mm Skim Finish
